Lessons and Partners
Partners or not? And Lessons
Even though
ballroom dance is performed with a partner, you
do not necessarily need a partner to take
ballroom dance classes. Most classes will accept
singles. Of course, it is ideal if you do have a
partner as you can learn together. You will find
that it is a satisfying way for you and your
partner to strengthen your relationship as you
learn new dance steps and new movements while
experiencing an enjoyable time together.
However, do not hesitate to sign up for ballroom
dance classes even if your partner is not
interested; maybe you can influence your partner
into taking lessons as he notices the fun you
have having with this new activity.
You may be trying
to determine whether you should take private
dance lessons or group lessons. Of course, one
determining factor is your budget and how much
you want to spend. Both group lessons and
private lessons have their ups and downs. Group
lessons are less expensive and they are a good
way to meet new people. You may also be able to
dance with a variety of partners. Group lessons
would probably be more fun than private lessons
since there is more interaction with other
people. On the other hand you may want to take a
private lesson or two to get yourself "up to
speed" especially if you feel you need the extra
attention to learn the new dance steps. Although
private lessons tend to be more expensive than
group lessons, keep in mind that you may need
fewer private lessons than group lessons. In the
long run, you could actually be spending less
money on classes for private sessions.
